Programming at Your Library

Many of the Newfoundland & Labrador Public Libraries offer programs that welcome readers and learners at all levels. You can ask at your local library about any upcoming events, or request a topic for a future program that you'd like to see!

You may need to register in advance to attend a library program. Just ask Library staff to help you register with your library card (it's free!).

Library programs can be offered either in-person or virtually (or a hybrid of both). Virtual and hybrid programs are available to anyone in the province who is interested!

Some programs that have been offered in the past include:

Literacy:

  • Book clubs hosted by library staff.
  • Story times for children and families.

Financial Literacy:

  • Info sessions through partnerships with local financial advisors and CPA Canada (for example, fraud protection, estate planning, etc.)
  • Tax clinics during tax season.

Digital & Media Literacy:

  • Technology help drop-in sessions.
  • Digital literacy classes (for example, social media, safe Internet use, etc.)
  • Makerspace programs

Emotional Literacy:

  • Social emotional literacy kits are available for kids and their families.
  • Workshops teaching skills for success (for example, stress management, motivation)

Health Literacy:

  • Info sessions about various health topics (for example, women's health, diabetes, Alzheimer's disease, etc.)

Cultural Literacy:

  • Themed storytimes for cultural holidays (for example, Ramadan).
  • Information sessions about the history of NL and the diverse people who live here.
