Thank you for doing your part to keep our communities safe through physical distancing. While we may not be able to meet in person right now, book clubs are still a great way to connect socially and stay engaged! We've updated this guide with tools for moving your book club meetings online (see the "Tips" tab on the left), and ways to find library books that your book club members can all read at the same time.
Big Library Read is a free, global, digital book club hosted by Overdrive/Libby, offered three times per year. The featured title is available to all patrons with no wait-list for a period of two weeks, and there are great discussion guides and other resources available. See the Big Library Read website for more information and resources about the current/upcoming title.
The next title coming up is:
April 5-19, 2021: The Art of Taking it Easy by Dr. Brian King
From a psychologist and stand-up comedian comes a practical, yet laugh-out-loud guide to embracing humor to reduce stress and live a happier, fuller life.
There are various different ways to find books your whole book club can read at the same time. (And you can combine these sources to find copies for your whole group too.)
Book club kits (print) available at the library: See the tabs in this guide for a full listing of our book club kits. These kits are free to borrow from any of our library locations, and include 10 print copies of a single title plus discussion questions and background information.
eBooks and eAudiobooks on Overdrive/Libby:
CELA (for accessible formats): If any members of your book club have print disabilities, they may qualify for our CELA (Centre for Equitable Library Access) services.
