Overview

Our NLPL Genealogy Guide highlights material in the NL Collection that can be especially useful to genealogists looking for information on individuals and families who lived in Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as links to useful genealogy websites and organizations. 

In the Guide to Genealogical Material in the Newfoundland and Labrador Collection, you will find that certain materials are designed available through System Wide Holds and others are designed not for loan. If the materials are not loanable, you may request information from these or from other materials in the NL Collection. There are a few things to remember:

• Requests should include as many details as possible, such as family and given names, birth/death dates, geographic locations and any other relevant information.
• If you live within the St. John's metropolitan area, you are expected to visit the library to conduct your own research, unless there are special circumstances to prevent this. 
• For all requests, and correspondence please include your full mailing address and telephone number.
