What is the TD Summer Reading Club?

The TD Summer Reading Club is Canada’s biggest, bilingual summer reading program for kids of all ages, all interests, and all abilities. This free program is offered at more than 2,000 public libraries across Canada, and it’s easy to include in any summer plans. The Club celebrates Canadian authors, illustrators and stories, and inspires kids to explore the fun of reading their way.
This is key to building a lifelong love of reading.
Kids can take part anywhere—at local public libraries across Canada as well as at home, online, or wherever summer takes them. For up-to-date resources, information, and themes, visit the TD Summer Reading Club Website.

Why should I join the Summer Reading Club?

What are the benefits of joining the TD Summer Reading Club?

  • Engaging children in reading and encouraging life long reading skills.
  • Supporting reluctant readers by engaging them with books on their terms.
  • Supporting your public library and visiting this free space!
  • Research shows that kids who participate in reading clubs over the summer keep up or advance their literacy skills rather than experiencing "the summer slide", which is a loss of literacy skills over the summer experienced by kids who don't read during those months.
  • Motivating children to read for fun.
  • Introducing an alternate summer activity in reading, visiting the library, or literacy based activities.
  • Children can participate anywhere! You can bring a book on any of your summer travels, and you can visit the eLibrary to find books online!
